Post 12 - Kids' subscription boxes: worth it or a gimmick?

I tested several book-and-toy subscription services for kids, and my conclusion is mixed. The upside: a monthly package is a genuinely exciting event, and curation saves choosing time. The downside: you pay a premium for the surprise, and some contents simply don't fit your specific child. The alternative that works for us: a fixed monthly budget the child uses to pick their own book or game - same monthly excitement, perfect fit, usually cheaper.
